Join us as we learn to paint a fantasy-inspired portrait—ethereal and full of character. You’ll learn to mix realistic skin tones while embracing loose, expressive brushstrokes to bring your painting to life. Whether you’re after realism or just want to loosen up, this class will help you master the balance between control and creativity. Plus, you’ll leave with your own Halloween masterpiece!
In this workshop, you will:
—Learn the art of mixing skin tones in an Alla Prima style (which is simply wet on wet painting)
—Explore techniques for loosening your brushwork, creating soft edges and expressive strokes.
—Dive into the balance between detail and spontaneity, allowing the paint to flow naturally.
Be guided step-by-step in creating your own portrait, with references I will be providing for you to choose from :)

Our Policies:
Please try to arrive 5-10 minutes early for your workshop. Workshops start on time. If you are more that 15 minutes late for your class, you may forfeit your chance to take the class.
You may cancel for a refund up to 21 days before the workshop. After that, workshop fees are not refundable.
We reserve the right cancel or reschedule a workshop with fewer than 4 sign ups. If you cannot attend the rescheduled date, you will receive a refund.
Please note that we may take photos during the workshop to use on social media. If you do wish to be photographed, please let the teacher know when you arrive.

Last minute cancellations are extremely challenging for our guest teachers. Often times, materials have been meticulously prepared ahead of time. Keep in mind that late cancellations are a financial burden on these very special artists.
My name is Jimena, I'm an oil painter based in Los Angeles, California.
My artistic journey began in Spain, where I studied Fine Art and immersed myself in various workshops, trying to absorb as much as I could from the masters. This summer, I had the pleasure of teaching a workshop in Italy, sharing my passion for painting with others.
My work blends realism with a dreamlike with a bit of an impressionistic touch— drawing inspiration from nature, folklore, films, poems, and everyday life, I use loose brushstrokes to let light and movement flow freely across the canvas, creating a fantasy-like quality in everyday subjects while maintaining a realistic foundation.
