Intro to Natural Dye
with Sophie Auerswald of Florakin
$100
An in-depth workshop for those interested in learning the art of natural dyeing. Participants will learn how to prepare fibers for dyeing, extract color from a variety of sources (plants, animals, mushrooms), and fix the pigment to the fiber. Along the way, students will be encouraged to take notes on the provided recipes for each step (note sheet provided). Through the course of the workshop, each participant will prepare and dye one silk scarf in addition to several small fiber samples (to be included with workshop notes).
